This work was an action created for Almadraba (the net used for tuna fishing), an exhibition centering on the Strait of Gibraltar and the social and political situation surrounding the Strait. I attempted an exchange of sand using fishing boats between Morocco and Spain as a symbol of cultural and historical union. It was like placing a drop of sand in the sea and watching the ripple effect as the two governments and their agencies struggled over whether or not they would grant permission. The Spaniards acquiesed. We are still waiting for permission from Morocco, permission that will never arrive. for further details click: http://www.harvestworks.org/creativec/Berkowitz/SameLand/index.html
