Instructions for performance for two performers

Part 1

Performer 1 sits on a high stool with no backrest.
Performer 2 sits on another high stool with no backrest.
The two actors are facing each other about an arms length apart.

Part 2

Performer 1 takes on the role of an aging parent, either Father or Mother.
Performer 2 takes on the role an adult child, either Son or Daughter.

Part 3

The parent raises the left hand with the palm open and facing the child.
The child does the same for the parent.
The child then scratches the parent’s palm gently with the right hand.
The parent does the same to the child.
This communication evolves as time passes.

Part 4.1

At anytime, if the parent is the Father, the child will ask the parent once:
“Have you been with another man before in your life?”

Part 4.2

At anytime, if the parent is the Mother, the child will ask the parent once:
“Have you been with another woman before in your life?”

Part 5 At anytime after the question is asked, the parent will reply: “Yes.”
Part 6 At anytime after the parent has answered, two performers leave the space.
